Vol. 7 No. 2 (2026): Special Issue: Grassroots and Indigenous Digital Faith-based Activism
The seven articles in this special issue of Ecclesial Futures offer cutting edge inter-disciplinary academic research into grassroots and indigenous digital expressions of witness. The seven articles present case studies from Africa, Asia, Oceania and Europe, along with missiological reflection on the dynamics of powers and principalities in technological environments.
Researching digital faithbased activism yields insights into theologies generated “on-the-ground,” the role of lay leadership in local Christian communities and the relationship between a local church and its ‘world’ or context. Focusing on digital activism by indigenous communities allows reflection on the place of local churches formed outside of Christendom. Hence, the focus of this special issue on digital activism intersects with the scope and focus of Ecclesial Futures as it investigates God’s mission in the world.
