Invitation for ASA 2026 Conference

2026-03-11

The proposed roundtable theme is “Rethinking African Social and Economic History: Memory, Marginalization, Gender, and History from Below.” The panel invites contributions that reconsider aspects of African social and economic history that have been overlooked or silenced as a result of colonial disruption, economic restructuring, and postcolonial political change. In particular, the discussion will explore how ordinary people experienced and responded to historical ruptures, though contributions beyond this scope are also welcome.

The conference will be held in Louisiana in December 2026. It is intended to be a hybrid event.

If you know any students or colleagues who may be interested, I would be grateful if you could share this invitation with them. Interested participants are welcome to email me at ropafadzo2310@gmail.com or rhove@kent.edu for more details
